Stars & Borders in Reticello by Giuliana Buonpadre

Stelle e Bordure a Reticello is Volume 8 in Giuliana Buonpadre's collection of instructional and project books on reticello and other forms of Italian needlelace and stitchery.

In this volume, Giuliana explores colored reticello designs in a somewhat less complex level compared to her previous two volumes (Vol 6 & 7), which makes this book an excellent companion to Vol 3 Il Reticello and Vol 5 Fior di Reticello.

The main focus of the book is a table runner in red on raw linen, explore ten different "stars" (squares) alternating with the same number of "borders" (rectangles) and two triangles.

The multiple squares and borders provide the stitcher with a wonderful array of patterns that can be applied in many embroidery contexts, as well as a variety of combinations of fabric, color, stitches, and so forth - all of which will help you develop your own interpretations of reticello embroidery.

If you are new to reticello and other forms of needle lace, you may wish to begin your explorations with volume 3, Il Reticello. If you are familiar with the basics of reticello, hardanger, and similar forms of needlework and you want to explore further, this volume, as well as the others by Giuliana Buonpadre will help you do that will help you do that.
