Plique-a-Jour is a full embroidery kit featuring pearl-ivory silk ground fabric pre-printed with the design, batiste backing fabric, full skeins of Soie d'Alger silk embroidery floss, four types of real metal goldwork threads, gold spangles, beads, silk couching thread, beeswax, needles, plunging lasso, and a 29-page full size, full color instructional booklet.

The kit contains everything you need for embroidering this project, with the exception of needlework scissors (including scissors suitable for goldwork threads - I recommend these Rainbow Thread Cutters) and a frame or hoop (I recommend stretcher bar frame, slate frame, or scroll frame with sides laced). The frame should accommodate a 12" x 12" piece of fabric, and should be no smaller than 9" x 10").

This kit is suitable for intermediate stitchers and beyond. You should know how to use an embroidery frame, how to follow stitching instructions, start and end threads, and other basics of embroidery.

Determined beginners can also be capable of completing the project, if they are acquainted with embroidery basics, know how to set up a frame, and are comfortable following instructions.
